What changed in the register this month: 1 new guide, 8 rebuilt

Corrected 2026-10-21. This issue is a snapshot of 2026-10-05; the guides have been rebuilt since, so the live pages may show different figures. It listed a sit pad as the lightest backpacking sleeping pad; sit pads and other accessories no longer count in those rankings. RidgeNote compares the figures makers publish; it does not weigh, test or carry gear.

Corrected again 2026-10-21. This issue first said its prices were what a retailer listed at our last read; RidgeNote publishes the maker's list price and does not track retailer prices. It also moved from /newsletter/002-what-we-measured-this-month-1-new-guide to this address, which redirects here. It said every figure was the one its maker publishes; a shelf median is worked out from those figures, and the line below now says so.
