The Ultralight/Watertight .9 solves a real problem: most people building a first-aid kit from scratch either forget the blister supplies or pack a pound of gauze they will never open. This one is sized for one to four people on trips up to about four days, with pre-cut moleskin, basic wound care, and single-dose medication packets sealed in a DryFlex inner bag so a swamped pack does not ruin it. Understand what 220 grams buys, though: quantities are token. A few of each item, one or two doses per medication, and nothing for serious bleeding - no tourniquet, and not enough gauze for a wound that actually needs pressure. Only the inner bag is waterproof; the outer is merely water-resistant. At its list price you are paying largely for the curation and the bag, and you still have to restock it after every trip. Experienced hikers can assemble the same contents for less.
