Body Glide's case is simple arithmetic: 42 grams and a small one-time cost against a trip cut short by raw inner thighs or a hipbelt-worn hipbone. Rub it on before you walk, at the usual places - thighs, heels, bra line, pack-strap contact points - and it lays down a dry barrier that does not feel greasy or stain gear the way petroleum products do. What it will not do is fix a problem that has already started. Once skin is broken this is not treatment, and applying it to raw skin hurts. It also wears off; on a hot, high-mileage day you need to reapply at lunch, which means the stick lives in a hipbelt pocket, not the bottom of the pack. The stick body is bulky for 1.5 ounces of product, and the balm goes hard in cold and soft in heat, so it applies unevenly at both ends of the season.
