Most headlamps this small bury a battery you cannot replace; this one runs a 16340 Li-ion with onboard USB-C charging and will also take a CR123A, so on a long trip you carry spares instead of a dead lamp. The aluminum body and IP68 sealing survive a drop in a creek, and the light pops out of the bracket to work as a small handheld. Understand that 700 lumens is a momentary figure. A 700 mAh cell holds turbo for a minute or two before stepping down, and even mid output drains it quickly, so this is not the lamp for repeated long night hikes without backups. The metal body is colder against your forehead in winter and heavier than a plastic equivalent, the headband is basic, and 16340 cells are not something a resupply town stocks. At its list price, buy it for the swappable cell or skip it.
