At its list price this is a lot of pant. You get stretch quick-dry fabric, a UPF rating, zip-off legs, and a tapered jogger cut that does not read as hiking gear in town, covering features that usually cost three times as much, from a brand you can find on a shelf when you need pants tomorrow. The compromises are genuine. At 369 grams it is heavy for a hiking pant; comparable synthetics come in a third lighter, and you notice that on a hot climb. The zip-off hardware brings the usual penalty, a hard seam ring at mid-thigh that can rub under a loaded pack's stride, and legs that never quite reattach straight. The tapered leg and elasticated cuff restrict big steps over blowdown, trap heat around the ankle, and dry slower than the rest of the pant. The exact fabric blend is not clearly published either, which matters if you care about abrasion on granite.
