The Classic SD covers what backpackers actually cut, meaning cheese, cord, tape, and a stubborn food bag, and its scissors and tweezers get used more than the blade for trimming tape and pulling out splinters and spines. It has been the ultralight default for decades because nothing lighter does as much. Be clear about what it is not. The blade is under two inches, does not lock, and is soft stainless that dulls quickly, so it is fine for slicing and unsafe for anything needing force. The scissors spring is the part that eventually fails, and it is not user-replaceable. The toothpick and tweezers slide out of their slots and get lost, and replacements are a separate order. At its list price you are also paying a premium for the cross; the same tool routinely sells for much less. Skip it if you already carry a razor blade and small scissors in your kit.
