Twenty-five dollars for polarized UV400 lenses in a frame that does not slide down a sweaty face is the whole appeal. At 30 grams you forget you have them on, the grippy coating does what it claims, and, most usefully, sitting on a pair is an annoyance rather than an expense. That is why they end up on more trails than glasses costing ten times as much. They are a hiking sunglass and nothing more. There is no side coverage and the tint is not dark enough for snowfields or sustained high-altitude sun, so on a spring snow traverse these are not adequate protection and proper glacier glasses are not optional. The polycarbonate lenses scratch easily, no hard case is included, and lenses cannot be replaced, so a scratched pair is a finished pair. The single medium fit suits neither narrow nor wide faces, and there is no impact rating if you want eye protection.
