Micro Squeeze Water Filtration System

The Micro Squeeze hits a genuine sweet spot: 0.1 micron hollow fiber at 57 grams, threading onto standard 28 mm disposable bottles, producing drinkable water immediately with no chemicals, batteries, or wait time. For most North American backcountry water, where bacteria and protozoa are the real risk, it is enough filter, and its size makes it easy to tuck in your quilt on cold nights. Two things will ruin it. Flow rate falls as the fibers load with silt, and the Micro loses flow faster than the full-size Squeeze does; backflushing recovers some of that but never all of it, so treat declining flow as the filter's clock running out. More seriously, a single freeze cracks the fibers invisibly, and it will keep passing water while no longer protecting you. If it freezes, replace it. It also does nothing about viruses or chemical contamination.
