For a day hiker who will never backflush, the BeFree's routine is simply less to carry and less to do.

FAQ
Do either of these make water taste better? No — hollow-fiber membranes remove particles, not dissolved chemicals or taste. Tannin-stained water comes out tannin-coloured and safe. Activated-carbon stages handle taste, and neither of these filters includes one.
Can I drink straight from the dirty container? Through the filter, yes — that is the BeFree's whole design, and the Sawyer threads onto any 28 mm bottle for the same sip-through carry. Never let dirty water touch the clean side: keep dirty and clean vessels distinct and the threads dry.
