Overview
The Sawyer Squeeze is the default backcountry water filter for good reason: a 0.1-micron hollow-fiber membrane that threads straight onto a Smartwater bottle, weighs about three ounces, and backflushes clean for years. It removes bacteria and protozoa but not viruses, which almost never matter on North American trails.
