A summer kit for the John Muir Trail, built from the lightest verified gear on the register. The bear canister is not optional — the JMT corridor requires an approved hard-sided canister, and it is the heaviest single item here. The Cosmic 20 is the lightest sleeping bag we have verified; a true ultralight quilt would save roughly 400 g, and this pack gets one the day we can verify one. The Platy adds 2 L of reserve capacity for the dry stretches.
